Cannondale Bikes go to Malaysia |
a "Red Bicycle" Photo Album |
In June 2004 Henk and Weisje bought two Cannondale F300 Mountain Bikes from 'Red Bicycle' here in Ko Samui. They never intended to spend their vacation bicycling to Maylasia when they arrived here in Ko Samui, but here in Thailand anything can happen. I have asked them to keep us posted; here is the latest installment. If anyone sees them down there in Malaysia on two yellow F300 Mountain bikes, buy them a drink ... Mike.

Hello Mike and Debra, (7July2004)
How are you? We hope all is going well with you on Ko Samui! The last time we sent you an e-mail was - I think - from Satun. Since then, we have been travelling for two weeks now in Malaysia, so it is time for an update on our whereabouts. Still no pictures attached, maybe that will have to wait until we're back home.
We took the ferry to Penang as planned, and stayed for a few days in
Georgetown, which is quite a big city! One daytrip, we tried to cycle out of the city, but got trapped in a maze of highways, so this was not a very nice start of cycling in Malaysia! HOwever, roads are not crowded everywhere, and we have been having a good time after all. From Penang, we cycled in 4 days to the Cameron Highlands. The last day we had to climb about 1400meters, so we had to use all the gears of our mountainbikes (in Thailand we didn't encounter many hills). AFter that, we moved on to the Taman Negara national park. These days there were many hills, so it was very heavy, but also very nice scenery, and only little trafic. After the jungle, we now moved on to Kuantan on the east coast, which we will ride back up untill Kota Baru. In short, all is going well, no problems with the bikes!
All the best, Henk and Wiesje
